HISTORY
The North Oakland County Board of REALTORSŪ was established in 1921 when a small group of real estate brokers joined forces to form the Pontiac Real Estate Board. In 1971, the name was changed to the Pontiac Area Board of REALTORSŪ with an ever-growing membership. Today, the North Oakland County Board of REALTORSŪ boasts a membership of over 2,000 members!
The purpose of the NOCBOR is to enhance the ability and opportunity of its members to conduct their business successfully and ethically; and to promote the preservation of the right to own, transfer and use real estate property. NOCBOR represents its members in all real estate specialties by supporting a legislative and legal environment favorable to its members.
The Board provides opportunities for professional growth and education and communicates information to its members that help them succeed in their business activities.
REALTORSŪ established their Code of Ethics in 1913 and it has survived as a viable and relevant guide because it is a living document. As times have changed, new needs and insights have been recognized and as the law has developed, the Code has been amended "many" times since its adoption. With all the amendments, the philosophical premise of the Code has remained unchanged to promote the highest level of integrity and fair business practices.
The Code of Ethics offers to REALTORSŪ the lessons of hindsight, the guidance of foresight and the understanding of insightA Rare Gift of Vision.
The North Oakland County Board of REALTORSŪ truly is WHERE YOU WANT TO BE!
